Who We Are

We are a small family business from Rhineland-Palatinate, where experience and ideas from three generations come together. We love our sheep and working with their wool. Our own flock is small – so that there is enough supply for your creative projects, we also buy wool and alpaca fibers from the region. We prepare our favorite fibers with great care. Here you will find high-quality, regionally produced material to realize your ideas.

The Rhön Sheep

The Rhön sheep is a traditional German landrace sheep from the Rhön, a low mountain range region known for its wide, open landscapes.

For centuries, this breed has lived there and is perfectly adapted to wind and weather. The result is a sheep that is undemanding and moves confidently in challenging terrain.

What makes the Rhön sheep special is not only its origin but also its character: attentive, calm, and friendly. You quickly take them to your heart. 🐑

From Sheep to Wool Fleece

Mainly by hand, with great care and genuine passion, the raw wool of our sheep is transformed into the material for your woolly projects: carded wool - undyed or hand-dyed.

Phase 1

The Sheep (Armando)

When our sheep are shorn in May, we get to work turning their wool into material for your creative ideas.
Phase 2

Raw wool

The processing begins with the raw wool. If you want to handle all the steps yourself, you'll find what you need with us: raw wool is available in our shop.
Phase 3

Washed wool

In five to six wash cycles, we free the wool from dirt and grease.
Phase 4

Loosened fibers

Before carding, the fibers are opened. This also further removes remaining plant fibers.
Phase 5

Carded wool

After carding, the wool is ready for your project - whether you want to felt or spin: you can start right away!
Phase 6

Dyed wool

If you're looking for something colorful: We dye our wool by hand. We generally use acid dyes. You can get our multicolored batts in exactly the quantity you need - completely flexible for your ideas. Browse our current assortment and find the perfect color. Feel free to contact us - we look forward to hearing from you!
